What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment designed to help you learn how to identify and change any destructive or disturbing thought patterns. Especially thought patterns that have a negative impact on your behaviors and emotions.
CBT does this by focusing on changing your automatic negative thoughts that contribute to and worsen your emotional difficulties such as depression and anxiety. Because it’s these spontaneous negative thoughts that have a detrimental impact on your mood. I use CBT to help you identify, challenge, and replace your unhealthy thoughts with more objective and realistic ones designed to create positive changes in your life.
What is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy?
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) designed to teach you how to live in the moment. It teaches you ways to develop healthy coping mechanisms for stress management, regulate your emotions, and improve your relationships with others.
It was initially designed to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD) but has since been used to treat other mental health conditions such as emotional regulation, self-destructive behaviors, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
What is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy?
EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages people struggling with conditions such as PTSD to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements). These treatments are designed to help you reduce the vividness and emotion associated with your trauma memories.
